Here you will find information on what mediation is, the process of mediation and other FAQ's.

In a nutshell, mediation is cheaper, quicker and less stressful than going to court.
Mediation may even be free as we are registered to apply for the Family Mediation Voucher for you.
This provides £500 towards mediation costs.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The family courts require you to try mediation first unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Knowing this, lawyers will direct clients to mediate as a 'first step'.

ABOUT THE MEDIATOR​
​
​I'm Catherine Lee, an accredited family mediator with the FMC. I am a member of the FMA and NFM.
I am here to help you find realistic agreements that will last.
​​​
​I provide mediation for people who live in Newport, Monmouthshire and Herefordshire in both urban and rural areas that make up this wonderful region along the border of Wales/ England.
​​​
I mediate for both private and legally aided cases in ‘all issues’ family cases: complex financial cases, cases involving children, relocation, high conflict etc.
​
I am trained to deliver inter-generational family mediations and am a fully trained conflict coach.
​​
I have a background as a broadcast journalist which has given me a grounding in impartiality. I also worked as a counsellor for Childline for 12 years which has given me an insight into children’s complex needs. I practice Child Inclusive Mediations which research shows is beneficial for children whose parents are separating... and subsequently is better for their parents. I have an enhanced DBS check.

My mediation style is one of compassion and pragmatism. My goal is to empower and help families find solutions that will realistically work for them.
​​
I also work in the oldest family mediation service in the country South East London Family Mediation Bureau where I mediate for families with complex needs.
